Germany, Imperial. A Pair of Gas Protection Goggles Auction Archive 1940” on the reverse(Schutzbrille zum Atemschtzer). A pair of First World War gas protection goggles, constructed of two non magnetic metal eyepieces with transparent celluloid lenses and boiled leather liners, fastened together at the centre with a canvas strap, and retaining an elasticized headband with a functional metal buckle, unmarked, measuring 17 cm at their greatest width, demonstrating material fatigue consistent with both age and field use, in very fine
