This is a lovely and surprisingly very good condition Civil War cartridge box. It features a cleanly embossed US on the outer flap and has both a very clear makers stamp, R. NECE PHILA (Philadelphia, PA) and a very clear inspectors stamp A. D. LAIDLEY under the flap, next to each other. This cartridge box appears unissued, with heavy verdigris on every rivet. The cartridge box is "Pattern July 1864", Type II, "US" is
