This mask began life during World War I as an M1917 Ledermaske, and after the war was converted during the Pre WWII era, with an attached FE37R filter dated 1940, and in a great early style short canister with the original straps. This model of Gasschutzmaske (Gas Protection Mask) was introduced in 1917, and was known as the Ledermaske due to
